You could not PAY me to go back to middle school

Tonight, I am supposed to be helping two other women teach the middle school boys at church. They gave us annonymous questions and we are supposed to answer them.

Notice the pluracity of "supposed to's"

The boys asked a lot of questions on subjects that *obviously* have been pitifully ignored. They asked a bazillion questions about sex. Now, do not mistake me- I firmly and wholly believe that middle school boys have absolutely zero business dabbling in sex. I'm also not an idiot- I know that middle school boys are dabbling in sex.

I gave my lesson ideas to the other women- to talk realistically about the expectations of their peers when it comes to sex, the misconceptions they most likely have about what sex IS, the science of pornography and how they are being exploited by the industry (which I've done TONS of research on for projects in school), etc. I gave examples of how I would explain to them the damages of starting to have sex in middle school to them and to the other party involved.

How many times will middle school boys get to hear about the merrits of sex in marriage and the disadvantages of sex so young and so uncommitted from Christian women? I never heard about that from Christian woman until I was in college. COLLEGE. We have such an opportunity with these boys that they will hardly ever get again.

What did the other two women pull veto power and decide to teach? How to be a good boyfriend. In their own words, they want to teach the boys to open doors for girls, learn how to talk to girls so that they will like what they see in them, and learn how to attract nice girls. Those are litterally the things they are going to teach.

They're doing this because sex was "too uncomfortable" and "should be left to the men." What do even married men know about how sex is for a girl? What it would do to a girl to start having sex in middle school like I know a good percentage of these kids are already doing. I'm thwarted by two women who think it is good enough to teach them to be decent humans and send them back out into an unchristian world. So teach them how to be a good boyfriend but not how to understand why they should be having sex with that girlfriend? ugh

There is a REASON memphis has the STD stats of a third world country. The reason is that there are women like these two who are unwilling to actually teach what needs to be taught to kids who have never heard it. They've grown up in spiritual mediocrity just like the rest of their generation. They've been ignored because they're not old enough to be considered "real Christians." Like they won't make a difference until they're old enough to drive or vote or work or be married or something ridiculous.

anyway. that's why I'm not teaching.

  1. Seriously? This is a HUGE opportunity and they are just throwing it away, and THAT is disappointing.
